• Five world-class wine estates
• Prestigious residential suburb
Your luxury winelands accommodation is situated in the fertile Constantia Valley which has a moderate climate and rich soil, and is protected from the Cape’s famous howling winds. Hence it is no wonder that the region is home to some of the oldest wine estates in South Africa. This is the area that Simon van der Stel, first Govenor of the Cape, chose to cultivate and develop into the Constantia farm in 1685. Over the years, the original farmlands have been divided into a few smaller farms each of which have since established themselves as world-class wine estates and are all now producing award winning wines.
The Last Word Constantia intimate hotel and the properties in the area are surrounded by expansive green belts and it is often hard to believe that this lush and tranquil area is a mere 20 minutes from the city centre. Along the well-signposted wineroute, one can visit the wine estates of Steenburg, Constantia Uitsig, Buitenverwachting, Klein Constantia, and Groot Constantia.
